Enphase gateway: not reporting — what it means and what to do

The Enphase cloud has stopped receiving data from your IQ Gateway. That usually points to a connection problem between the gateway and your internet rather than panels that have stopped working. It is not urgent, but it is worth fixing so monitoring and alerts work. Start by checking your router and the gateway's network light.

What we see across our fleet

  • We have seen this fault on 754 Enphase systems, 15.1% of the 4,980 Enphase systems we monitor (last 12 months).
  • Source: Otovo fleet monitoring and service records, data through October 2026.

Common causes

  • The home Wi-Fi network name or password changed, or a router was replaced or reset.
  • The home internet connection is down.
  • The gateway is too far from the router or the Wi-Fi signal is weak. Enphase advises a 2.4 GHz network where the router is not close to the gateway.
  • The gateway has lost power, for example because a breaker is off.
  • A hardware fault in the gateway, which an installer must test.

Safe steps to try

  1. Check your internet Confirm other devices in the home are online. Restart your router if the internet is down.
  2. Look at the gateway lights from outside Enphase says the network communication light is solid green when the gateway is connected to the cloud, red when it reaches only the local network without internet, and off when no network is available. If all lights are off, the gateway may have no power.
  3. Reconnect it through the Enphase App If the Wi-Fi name or password changed, the Enphase App offers a Connect Gateway to the Internet option. Use a 2.4 GHz network if the router is not close to the gateway.
  4. Check the breaker Make sure the breaker that supplies the gateway is on. If it tripped, switch it back on once only.
  5. Restart the gateway once If the lights stay red for a long time, Enphase says you can power cycle the gateway once: switch off its breaker or unplug it, wait about 30 seconds, then power it back on. Then wait and check the app again.

When to call a professional

Call a professional if the gateway lights stay off or red after one restart and a router check, if the breaker keeps tripping, or if the alert continues for a day or more. Otovo services these systems and can diagnose this fault. Do not open the gateway or any enclosure.

Frequently asked questions

Is my solar system still producing?
Often yes. The alert means data is not reaching Enphase. Check the lights on the gateway or your electricity meter to confirm what is happening.
Why did it start after I changed my router?
The gateway stores your old Wi-Fi details. A new network name or password means it must be reconnected through the Enphase App.
Can I use a cable instead of Wi-Fi?
Enphase documents that the gateway can connect by Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet or a cellular network, depending on your setup.
Does a gateway fault affect my battery?
Enphase states that if the gateway is off or has failed, IQ Battery 5P units will not discharge. If you have a battery, resolve the gateway fault promptly.
