SolarEdge inverter: no site communication — what it means and what to do
This alert means the SolarEdge monitoring platform is not receiving data from your system. Often the inverter has lost its internet connection rather than stopped producing. Check that your router is on and that the inverter lights look normal, restart your router once, and contact a professional if it does not return.

What we see across our fleet
- We have seen this fault on 2,897 SolarEdge systems, 32.7% of the 8,871 SolarEdge systems we monitor (last 12 months).
- Once it appears, the system usually clears it in about 71.6 hours (median), and 3.3% clear within 24 hours.
- Replacement cases on record involve these SolarEdge models: U650-1GM4MRMU-A05 (371), USE11400H-USSKBEZ8 (365), SE7600H-USMNUBL75 (118), NX13000T-US00UCYN4 (84), SE10000H-USMNUBL75 (61).

Common causes
- The home router or modem is off, or the internet is down.
- The Wi-Fi password, router, or internet provider changed, so the inverter cannot join the network.
- A weak Wi-Fi signal between the router and the inverter.
- A firewall or network filter is blocking the inverter's connection to SolarEdge.
- The inverter is off or has an error of its own.
Safe steps to try
- Note the alert Open the SolarEdge monitoring app or portal and write down the exact alert text and the time it started. This helps a technician diagnose it faster.
- Check your internet Confirm your router and modem are on and that other devices can get online. If you recently changed your Wi-Fi password, router, or internet provider, the inverter may have lost its connection.
- Look at the inverter lights From a safe distance, look at the status lights or screen on the inverter without opening anything. Note what they show so you can describe it to a technician.
- Restart your router once Power-cycle your router and modem, then give the inverter some time to reconnect. If the alert is still there after a day, contact a professional.
When to call a professional
Otovo services these systems and can diagnose this fault for you. Call if the alert persists after your router restart, if the inverter lights show a fault, or if your app shows no production during daylight. Reconnecting or reconfiguring communication on the inverter should be done by a technician.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my system still producing if it is offline?
- Possibly. Loss of communication affects what you see in the monitoring app. The inverter can keep producing while disconnected, but you cannot confirm it from the app until the connection returns.
- Do I need to change anything on the inverter?
- No. Do not open the inverter or change its settings. Checking your own internet and router is safe.
- Why did it go offline after I changed my router?
- The inverter's network settings were set up for the old network. A new router, password, or provider usually means it has to be reconnected.
