SolarEdge inverter: no communication with the inverter — what to do
This alert means the monitoring platform cannot communicate with your inverter. The cause is often your home network, but it can also be the inverter being off. Check the router and the inverter status lights, make sure the solar breaker is on, and contact a professional if it continues.

Common causes
- The home router, modem, or internet connection is down.
- The Wi-Fi network settings changed since the inverter was set up.
- The inverter is switched off, or its AC breaker is off, for example after a grid outage.
- The inverter has a fault and has stopped operating.
- A network firewall or filter is blocking the connection.
Safe steps to try
- Note the alert Open the SolarEdge monitoring app or portal and write down the exact alert text and the time it started. This helps a technician diagnose it faster.
- Check your internet Confirm your router and modem are on and that other devices can get online. If you recently changed your Wi-Fi password, router, or internet provider, the inverter may have lost its connection.
- Check the breaker Look at the solar or inverter circuit breaker in your main panel. If it is off, switch it back on once. Do not keep resetting it if it trips again.
- Look at the inverter lights From a safe distance, look at the status lights or screen on the inverter without opening anything. Note what they show so you can describe it to a technician.
- Wait and recheck Allow some time for the inverter to reconnect after any restart, then look at the app again. If the alert remains, contact a professional.
When to call a professional
Otovo services these systems and can diagnose this fault for you. Call if the inverter lights show a fault, if the breaker trips again, or if the alert has not cleared after your checks.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this alert mean the inverter is broken?
- Not necessarily. It means the platform cannot reach it. The inverter may be working but disconnected from your network.
- Should I switch the inverter off and on?
- Only use the inverter ON/OFF switch if a technician asks you to. Restarting your router is a safer first step.
- Will I lose energy credit while it is offline?
- This depends on how your utility and monitoring are set up. A technician can check your system's actual production.
