Generac PWRcell inverter not connected to internet: what to do
When the Internet light on the Generac PWRcell inverter control panel is off, the inverter is not connected to Generac's server, so remote monitoring cannot see live data. A slowly strobing blue Internet light is different: it means a firmware update is in progress. Generac's troubleshooting step is to make sure the inverter is connected to the internet through your router.
Can wait
Common causes
- Your home internet or router is down or was replaced.
- The network connection between your router and the inverter was changed or disconnected.
Safe steps to try
- Check the Internet light Solid blue means connected. Slow blue strobing means connected and updating firmware; do not power off the inverter during an update. No light means not connected.
- Check your router Confirm other devices can get online. Restart your router if needed and check that any cable to the solar system is still plugged in at the router end.
- Wait and recheck Give the system some time after your internet returns, then check the Internet light again.
When to call a professional
If the Internet light stays off while your home internet works, contact your installer or a Generac Independent Authorized Service Dealer (IASD).
Frequently asked questions
- Does the system still produce power when offline?
- The Internet light only reports the connection to Generac's server. The separate Inverter and REbus lights show whether the system itself is running; green on both means normal operation.
- What does the blinking blue light mean?
- Generac says a slow blue strobe means a firmware update is in progress. Do not power off the inverter or unplug the Beacon.
